University Startups: TSSSU Eligibility and Application Criteria
TSSSU provides funding to six universities in Hong Kong. Eligibility requires registration under the Companies Ordinance for not more than two years (TSSSU-O) or seven years (TSSSU+). Applications go through the associated university.
What is TSSSU?
The Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU) is an initiative under the Innovation and Technology Fund. Launched in 2014, TSSSU provides funding to six universities.
Eligibility Criteria
A technology start-up is eligible to apply if it is registered in Hong Kong under the Companies Ordinance. The registration period must be not more than two years as of the application deadline for the original component (TSSSU-O), or not more than seven years for the enhancement measure (TSSSU+).

TSSSU+ Enhancement
Starting from 2023-24, an enhancement measure (TSSSU+) provides dollar-to-dollar matching funds to start-ups that have demonstrated good growth potential by securing investment from the private sector.

How to Apply
Technology start-ups interested in TSSSU should submit their applications to the knowledge transfer office, technology transfer office, or entrepreneurial centre of their associated universities. Each of the six universities has prescribed its own application forms and guidelines for handling TSSSU applications. Applications assessed and recommended by the selection panel of each university will be forwarded to the Innovation and Technology Commission for agreement.
